The R-1 visa is a temporary non-immigrant visa given out to foreign nationals entering the U.S. to work in a religious capacity for a non-profit organization in the United States.

The R1 visa status can be granted for an initial period of up to 30 months (this can be extended for a further 30 months) for a maximum stay of 60 months (5 years). After 5 years, the national must return to their home country for a period of 12 months before reapplying.

Given the high stakes of the outcome of your R1 visa application and the complex paperwork involved, it is important to understand your rights and obligations by law. Our highly trained immigration lawyers at Stelmakh Law LLC can help answer any R1 questions you have. Call us for a consultation today.
